Torquay Architecture, Bells on the Beach, Our Garden


I’m glad I put aside some time to photograph what’s left of Torquay’s historic architecture. I used black and white film to capture the essence of the period. Two lovely classic buildings on T he Esplanade - ‘Torbay’ and the corner of Gilbert Street GONE!

Bells Easter Contest 50 years, New Web Site, Anna Chandler Designs


Barrie Sutherland’s images record Bells and its contest throughout the 1960s, from the small surf days, to the giant surf that thundered into Bells in 1965. There is probably no more iconic Bells image than the big day on Easter Sunday when Barrie captured Roger Falahey paddling up the face of a monster wave.

New Images, Mal Sutherland, Bobby Brown exhibition, Geelong in the 60s


Geelong in the 1960s We’ve expanded our image preservation program to include the best of Barrie’s early Geelong Camera Club work. The images are vintage 1960s Geelong, ranging from landscapes, street scenes, portraits, still life and even the Geelong Cats playing Carlton in the finals at the MCG.
